3G Design Studio Sets New Standard for 3G Design Software

Westlake Village, California, April 5, 2000 – Elanix, Inc., and EnTegra, Ltd. today announced the availability of new software toolsfor third generation (3G) wireless system design and test. The new 3G Design Studio provides the highest performance simulation and testing environment available today for complete physical layer design and test, including unique RF design capabilities that provide interactive simulation between processinggain and RF headroom analysis while maintaining simulation performance.

Already, several leading chip, system and test equipment vendors and 3GPP members have purchased this software to accelerate their product development. These customers provided guidance and verification throughout the development phases of 3G Design Studio to ensure the software met their requirements in the areas of terminals, base-station design and real-time waveform generation for mobile test equipment.

The software was developed by EnTegra’s Broadband team, which is made up of experienced 3G engineers from the leading European wireless equipment manufacturing companies and universities. As such the product was developed by 3G engineers for 3G engineers. Additionally EnTegra’s close ties with leading teams within the 3GPP group ensure the product tracks and is maintained to the latest standards. The current release is 3GPP 3.1.1 and support for 3GPP 3.2 will also be available shortly.

The new software supports multiple levels of design abstraction, from complete layer-1 system modeling down to RF and bit-true DSP algorithms at near circuit level. High level models include very efficient complete Uplink and Downlink channel generators. At lower levels, the design studio has a comprehensive set of channel coding/decoding blocks such as 3G-standard-compliant rate-matcher, turbo decoders, propagation channel models and more. The interface architecture guides the user through the complexity of the mobile 3G standards, providing unsurpassed ease-of-use.

The Design Studio not only provides a powerful 3G simulation environment through SystemVue, but also real-time signal generation and 3G waveform analysis using EnTegra’s InnSys technology.

3G Design Studio is resold by Elanix as part of a software suite that also includes SystemVue, a tool used by leading electronics manufacturers worldwide to design, and test communications, DSP, and RF/Analog systems. Because it allows debugging and testing early in the design cycle, when problems are easier to identify and correct, the software shortens time-to-market by as much as 50 percent.
