E8935L WVAN Wireless Library
WirelessHD 1.0 is an industry-led specification that defines a wireless video area network (WVAN) for the connection of consumer electronic (CE) audio and video devices. It is the first and only wireless digital interface to combine uncompressed high-definition video, multi-channel audio, intelligent format and control data, and Hollywood-approved content protection.

The Agilent E8935L WVAN Wireless Library provides preconfigured simulation setups, signal sources, receiver models and TX/RX analysis for simulation of the 60GHz circuitry used in WVAN designs.
It works with the Agilent Ptolemy simulator within the ADS environment to streamline design and verification of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM)-based service designs.
The ADS Wireless Library helps early Promoters and Adopters of the WirelessHD consortium to easily create ADS waveforms, and also provides Transmitter Spectrum, CCDF and EVM measurements, and Receiver RawBER and BER measurements on AWGN.

The E8935L WVAN Wireless Library speeds the development cycle by allowing system designers to analyze a system’s performance before all of its components are designed. It provides an important early external verification reference for two levels in an R&D organization:
- Algorithm developers and system architects can substitute for proprietary blocks that are missing, account for more real-world PHY/Layer 1 effects, and verify early implementations of algorithms and hardware.
- IC and component designers can verify system performance using compliant waveforms and testbenches.
Features of the E8935L WVAN Wireless Library (July 2008 release)
- Configure OFDM frames for HRP.
- Flexible configuration of sub-packets and MAC Header.
- Standards-based, time domain preamble, time domain preamble, fully coded Header and raw data.
- Channel coding: RS (Reed-Solomon) and CC (Convolutional coding) for Header.
- Pre-configured testbenches for TX EVM, spectral mask, and RX uncoded BER.
- Additional TX/RX features to follow soon, along with LRP support in future updates.
What is an ADS “wireless library”?
Providers of wireless connectivity technology face a number of evolving standards. Product development, however, cannot always wait for the standards to stabilize. An ADS Wireless Library is a way to meet time-to-market demands of evolving wireless standards by delivering an early representation of an emerging standard. As a standard stabilizes, the ADS wireless library evolves into a fully documented Layer 1/PHY verification suite.
Required Modules
The WVAN Wireless Library requires the following ADS* modules:
* version ADS 2008 Update1, or later release
Verification Test Benches
Transmitter Measurements
The following transmitter measurements are performed for WVAN HRP systems:
CCDF, Spectrum Mask, Waveform
Spectrum Display
Waveform Display
Transmitter CCDF and Power Measurement Display
