Product HighlightsFully-integrated high-frequency physical design environment includes Layout, Schematic Capture, Data Display, true Electromagnetic and Simulation capabilities.
Product DescriptionMomentum Circuit DesignerMomentum Circuit Designer provides an integrated entry-point solution for back-end physical design of MMIC and other high-frequency circuits. Combining the ADS Design Environment for schematic entry, with powerful Data Display capabilities, Linear simulation, electromagnetic (EM) modeling, and an advanced Layout editor, it is an excellent choice for basic EM modeling of physical designs. Momentum Circuit Designer provides a basic platform that can grow with your design needs through the addition of fully integrated capabilities from Agilent's comprehensive set of EDA solutions. For high-frequency designers who already implement their front-end designs in ADS, the suite provides a complementary back-end solution to complete the design flow. At the core of the Momentum Circuit Designer suite is Momentum, a 2.5D planar electromagnetic (EM) simulator that enables RF and microwave designers to significantly expand the range and accuracy of their passive circuits and circuit models. The ability to analyze arbitrary shapes, on multiple layers and to consider real-world design geometries when simulating coupling and parasitic effects, makes Momentum an indispensable tool for customized passive circuit design. Momentum works together with Advanced Design System (ADS) to compute S-, Y-, and Z-parameters of general planar circuits. Microstrip, stripline, slotline, coplanar waveguide, and other circuit topologies can be analyzed quickly and accurately with Momentum. Vias that connect one layer to another can also be simulated; enabling design engineers to more fully and accurately simulate multi-layer RF/MMICs, printed circuit boards, hybrids, and MCMs. The linear simulator provided with Momentum Circuit Designer allows designers to do basic frequency- domain circuit analysis with the models generated from Momentum. Design synchronization between the layout and schematic environment eliminates the tedious tasks of generating initial layouts from schematic representations and updating the schematic representation so that circuit based simulations match the actual physical behavior of the layout. For a more comprehensive back end design suite including a Design Rule Checker (DRC) and EM optimization and visualization capabilities, please see Physical Designer Premier (E8915). For those looking for a complete, integrated front-to-back MMIC design solution Agilent also offers MMIC Circuit Designer Premier (E8812). Layout EnvironmentE8902 Layout provides a comprehensive high-frequency physical design environment for engineers looking to complete their designs in a unified front-to-back flow. Backend designs are easily produced either by auto-generating design artwork from ADS schematic via design synchronization, or by entering layout artwork directly. Direct entry is supported via design palettes and a comprehensive list of standard and advanced editing features. After the physical representation is placed in ADS layout environment, the design becomes available for editing, refinement, and electromagnetic parasitic analysis and optimization. Parameterized schematic level artwork can easily be created and edited from Layout with the Graphical Cell Compiler (GCC). Momentum EM Simulation EnvironmentE8921A Momentum Simulator is a planar (2.5D) electromagnetic (EM) simulator that enables RF and microwave designers to expand the range and accuracy of their passive circuits and models significantly. Momentum takes into account real-world design geometries when simulating coupling and parasitic effects, and can analyze multi-layer arbitrary shapes. The capabilities of Momentum can further be extended with Momentum Visualization and Momentum Optimization. Linear Simulation EnvironmentE8881A Linear Simulator is a frequency-domain circuit simulator that analyzes a large variety of RF and microwave circuits operating under linear conditions. Amplifiers, passive circuits (for example, filters, impedance matching networks), oscillator small-signal loop gain, and nonlinear devices are evaluated at the DC operating point and driven by small-signal excitation. The Linear Simulator includes Model Composer which enables designers to quickly and easily create EM based parameterized models for passive planar components. Advanced Model Composer, available as an integrated add-on product, offers more extensive and flexible model generation capabilities.
