E8878A CDMA2000 1xEV-DO (1 x EVolution for Data Only) is a new CDMA-based always-on standard optimized for packet data which provides for data rates of up to 2.4 Mbits/s in a 1.25-MHz channel. E8877A CDMA2000 1xEV Design Library is a collection of models and verification setups for physical layer design and verification.

The library is designed to assist communication and RF system designers who are actively involved with 1xEV product generation. Based on TIA IS-2000 standards, the library allows for generation of 1xEV signals and simulation of key measurements. The library includes models to perform forward link output power and code domain power (CDP), as well as waveform quality (Rho), measurements for both forward and reverse links.

    Product Information

    Product Highlights

The E8878A CDMA2000 1xEV Design Library provides transmitter (RF) design and verification capabilities which include power amplifier (PA) testing with complex signal sources.

    Power Amplifier Test Setup

The PA Test & Verification project includes setups to perform forward link power, CDP and Rho measurements with PASS/FAIL notification. The user can replace his or her PA design with the existing ideal model and observe the performance against the specification.

    Forward Link Signal Generator

The CDMA2000 1xEV Design Library includes a source model to generate forward link signal. The forward channel consists of time-multiplexed Pilot, Medium Access Control (MAC), and Traffic Channels. The Traffic Channel carries user physical layer packets.

The Forward Link Source allows the user to select any of the radio configurations (data rates) specified in the standard, and is capable of generating arbitrary settings for active and Idle slots.

    Forward Link Frame Generator

In 1xEV-DO systems, information is transmitted in frames. The frame length used in 1xEV-DO systems is 26.67ms and each frame is divided equally into sixteen 1.666ms timeslots. The Forward Frame Generator in the library allows the user to set the status of any slot to be active, or idle. A modulation format (QPSK, 8PSK, 16QAM) can also be assigned to each slot in the frame.

    Product Description

Agilent Advanced Design System (ADS) is a versatile design tool that includes a broad array of RF, analog, and DSP models and simulation capability, all accessible in a single design environment. The use of ADS can accelerate the development of IS-2000 system, circuit, and DSP designs.

E8878A CDMA2000 1xEV Design Library makes it possible to rapidly develop designs in ADS and quickly verify them against the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP2) specifications.

The new 1xEV complementary cellular format has evolved from CDMA2000 and is optimized for packet data only services. The 3GPP2 committee is currently standardizing the 1xEV-DO cellular format.

Pre-built algorithmic models for ADS are supplied for:

    • Forward CDP
    • Forward and Reverse Link Rho
    • Power Measurement

Pre-configured Test and Verification projects help with design verification throughout the design process.

E8878A CDMA2000 1xEV Design Library includes baseband functionality such as framing, encoding, interleaving, and spreading to help model the physical channel.

These library elements support rapid, parallel design cycles. A working baseline is available for RF system and circuit design even before the DSP designs are completed. When the designs are ready, simply substitute the actual DSP designs for the library elements and verify that the implementation matches the upper level system design and specification.
