Simulation

ADS 2002 improves simulation performance and shortens product development time by increasing simulation speed, more efficiently utilizing memory and providing new analysis capabilities for the most challenging and strongly nonlinear designs.

Enhancements include advances in the DC convergence algorithm, advanced memory utilization for harmonic balance simulations, faster transient (HF-SPICE) simulation, and algorithm advances to the Krylov HB pre-conditioners.

ADS 2002 also features a new Shur-Complement Krylov HB pre-conditioner for simulating large strongly non-linear designs and a Krylov HB capability for circuit envelope and oscillator simulations.

EM/Circuit Co-Simulation with Layout Components

Co-simulation with layout components brings physical electro-magnetic (EM) effects into the schematic environment. Co-simulation with Layout components breaks down the barriers between electrical and physical analysis domains. This enables designers to incorporate layout artwork in schematic environments for concurrent analysis of circuit performance along with critical physical EM effects.

EM/Circuit Co-Simulation with Layout Components

Co-simulation with Layout Components uses the industry-leading EM simulator, ADS Momentum, and all of its features including RF mode for fast analysis of electrically small circuits and arbitrary polygonal mesh for high levels of accuracy and speed.

Speed, Capacity, and Convergence

Improved DC convergence algorithms for parallel inductors (loops) and series capacitors now overcome problems with extremely large and small component values in a circuit.

Improvements in transient simulation (HF-SPICE) have increased transient analysis speed by ten per cent.

Simulation Performance Advances

Other advances include a Shur-Complement Preconditioner for harmonic balance simulations. For large and strongly non-linear circuits, this technique results in 2x to 30x speed improvements and more efficient memory use.

Krylov simulation has been extended to circuit envelope simulation and to oscillator analysis.

Transient Noise Analysis

Transient noise analysis in the time domain is now available for wireline applications. This makes it possible to simulate jitter in oscillators and clock data recovery circuits.
